Abstract

An interesting incident of St. Cyril’s life, teacher of the Slavic people, is presented in this paper. According to his Life St. Cyril traveled to the Arabic Caliphate as a Roman envoy and participated in the relevant discussions between the two states before his mission to the Slavic people in Great Moravia. The Life describes the discussions between Cyril and the diplomats of the court of the caliph, which give us a clear picture of the relations between the two countries and their people in the 9th century.
