Abstract
Abstract: Excessive intestinal gas poses a significant problem in gastroenterology, not to be either exaggerated or underestimated. The symptoms may be severe enough to mask such diseases as peptic ulcer, cholelithiasis, angina pectoris, and emphysema. The pseudo‐anginal magenblase syndrome is caused by entrapped gas. Although the physiology and pathology of intestinal gas is fairly well understood, the treatment is an exercise in frustration. Certain effective dietary and medicinal measures are suggested.
