Abstract

Objective To find out the characteristics and diagnostic value of MRI of traumatic optic neuropathy.Methods We retrospectively analyzed 52 cases (56 eyes) of traumatic optic neuropathy with MRI and clinical data during Sep,2007 to Dec,2010.Results There were positive MRI results in 49 eyes ( 87.50% ),including 15 eyes (26.79%) of orbital fracture,32 eyes (57.14%) of soft tissue edema,39 eyes (69.64%) of hemorrhage,25 eyes (44.64%) of optic edema,8 eyes ( 14.29% ) of subdural hematoma,2 eyes(3.57% ) of optic nerve transposition and optic atrophy in 24 eyes (42.86%).Conclusion MRI scanning has the characteristic of obviously soft tissue distinguishability,which has great value in the diagnosis of traumatic optic neuropathy and treatment.
