Abstract

Abstract Giant magnetoimpedance (GMI) signal was measured as a function of ageing time at various temperatures in Inconel 600 alloy to evaluate the material nondestructively. Neutron diffraction was used to identify magnetic transition inferred from the change of GMI peak. Three stages of GMI changes with ageing time at given temperature are explained by the change of anisotropy energy and domain wall pinning conditions due to the formation of short-range order, long-range order and carbide precipitation, respectively.
