Abstract

The article presents the problem of the bilateral relationship between the teaching and learning in the educational process. The article analyzes the results of an empirical study conducted with high-school students studying in the South Central region of Bulgaria. The results show that 53% of teachers use active teaching methods as a priority, while 47% implement their teaching activities through passive methods. Students are differentiated into four groups according to their learning style – research, practical, analytical or creative one. In order for the learning process to be effective, it is necessary for teachers to use a set of teaching methods that are most in line with the dominant learning styles of the students.
