Abstract

China recently has made great strides in the education system development, expanding the young people access to different educational programs and educational services. The Chinese government latest official documents set ambitious goals for building a «harmonious» society, that is possible only by overcoming serious problems and contradictions in the national education system. Speaking at the 19-th Congress of the CPC (2017), Chinese President Xi Jinping set a goal to turn China into the country with the most educated citizens in the world. But to achieve it, the country will first have to find how to overcome the educational inequalities that have become particularly noticeable in recent years.The article raises the problems of inequality of the Chinese young citizens access to various levels of education; factors affecting the possibilities to receive education; the Chinese government measures aimed at overcoming the unfair distribution of educational resources. These problems are universal and are inherent to many countries of the world, including Russia.
