Abstract

In 1941, when Iraq entered a war with the British themselves, then the British soon rearranged their cards by drawing a new security policy for royal Iraq that included, at the very least, the protection of their interests, especially after the flow of oil in northern Iraq, and this situation continued until the morning of July 14, 1958 When he announced the establishment of the republican system in Iraq, which also witnessed radical changes in the trends of security policy, especially since the first republic tried to draw a general policy dominated by a military character, while the second republic came under the leadership of the Baath in 1963, In an ideological guise, militarization returned in the Republic of the Aref brothers, then the dissolved Baath soon returned, and the security policy in Iraq turned into a repetition of the experience of one-party, individual authoritarianism and dictatorship. The presence of the occupier cast a misguidance on the general vocabulary of that policy, but the American withdrawal in 2011 resulted in the need to draw up a different security policy, although those attempts had begun early with two important events, the first of which was the formation of the Baghdad Operations Command and the implementation of the law enforcement plan, which was followed by other large-scale operations. It included many governorates, and the second most important event was the announcement of the formation of the Anti-Terrorism Service at the end of 2006 and the beginning of 2007 The changes taking place in designing and building the security policy were accompanied by a number of successes, but they were not without failures, especially what happened in June 2014.
