Abstract

The article describes the relevant actors, structures, and stakeholders involved, with emphasis on its roles, functions, and relevance in the Philippine Olympic Movement utilizing Jean-Loup Chappelet’s conceptual analysis of the governance of the Olympic System as an epistemological tool. The article, then, proceeded to discuss the Olympic governance structure as well as the dynamic interaction and relationships between and among various actors and stakeholders in terms of decision-making and policy-making impacts and outcomes. More importantly, the article analyzes ongoing and existing policy capacities which seeks to build and strengthen the capacities of Olympic Movement in the Philippines such as the establishment of the Philippine Sports Academy, the conduct of sports summits among National Sports Associations stakeholders, the creation of Department of Sports, and provision for expanded coverage of sports benefits and incentives as ways forward in the country’s quest for more Olympic gold.
