Abstract
1) The development of the locomotory pattern in Bufo regularis follows the order : starts by a bending of the head to one side performed by the contractions of the myotomes situated immediately behind it, more caudal myotomes are involved till the animal bends itself into tight coils, the muscular contractions and subsequent relaxations which become progressively faster on alternate sides throw the body into S-form, the successive cephalocaudal flexures give rise to locomotion whose first phase is swimming and the second terrestrial or walking. 2) Unco-ordinated movements of the limbs were first performed as part of the movements of the trunk which seemed to dominate them. Later, they become independent and their movements co-ordinated. 3) A brief description is given of some features in the morphological organization of the neuro-muscular system in the embryo. Sensory and motor neurons develop together. These are later followed by both commissural and internuncials and, then, by co-ordinating neurons.
