AbstractA review of geographic research on Siberia before the Bolshevik Revolution and during the 50 years of the Soviet period. Current research, centered at the Institute of Geography in Irkutsk, focuses on problems of tayga development, thematic mapping, physical-geographic field-station observations and medical geography.
