Abstract

This article describes the approach which has been adopted by the Central Electricity Generating Board (CEGB) in developing replica simulators for training plant operations staff from their Advanced Gas-Cooled Reactor (AGR) power stations. A number of important aspects in the development of these simulators are discussed initially, leading on to some specific points related to the AGR Simulator designs themselves. This includes the feature of running the simulator total plant models on general purpose mainframe computers located about 200 km remote from the Training Centre where the simulated unit control desks and panels are actually sited.
