Abstract

The lawsuit of the environmental dispute has long been discussed along with the phenomenon of environmental destruction. The actions that have an impact on environmental damage must be accounted for through a strict legal process. The Supreme Court issued a policy in 2011 related to the certification of environmental judges. This policy has been implemented for a long time and is in line with the development of issues of environmental change. Therefore, the objective of this research is to evaluate the certification policy of environmental judges so that they have competence in the development of environmental issues in the community. The research method used is qualitative with a normative approach. Data collection is carried out by reviewing laws and regulations and also collecting data on environmental cases that register in court over the last three years. Then analyzed descriptively to describe what policies need to be made to support the resolution of the current environmental issues. The result obtained is that the environmental judge certification policy must be supported by a renewal of the curriculum and training model. Then, there is the potential for having an environmental court due to the various types of violations against environmental management and preservation.
