Abstract

This article describes the optimisation of a solid-phase immunoenzyme assay (ELISPOT) for the detection of individual antibody-secreting cells in fish. Its use to detect specific and total antibody-secreting cells in lab Limanda limanda is shown and the relative size of the specific B cell response in relation to the total number of antibody-secreting cells and serum antibody is given. Its potential application to a variety of areas of fish immunology is discussed.
