Abstract

An electrically driven scooter has been developed to be used for short-distance travelling in urban areas. Its body is made with fibre-reinforced plastic for both the main frame and the exterior panels. We discuss the manufacturing process of the electric scooter, including a structural and resin flow analysis of the body, material selection, body manufacture by structural reaction injection moulding and its performance with reference to the Japan Electric Vehicle Standard.
