Abstract
Radiometric sorting of South African gold ores using uranium as a tracer has become practical and economical due to the introduction of microprocessors into the sorting machines. In the sorter, the particles are presented individually to the γ-ray counting and mass determination system. The computing system, after making the decision, instructs the ejectors to separate the desired particles from the stream.
