Abstract

Palliative care strives to enhance quality of life in the face of a life-threatening illness without hastening or postponing death, helping the individual to live as long and normally as possible. The World Health Organization (2011) defines pediatric palliative care as active, total care of the child and begins when illness is diagnosed and continues whether the child receives treatment for the disease.
