Abstract
By cosmology John Henderson means a thinking, that draws systematic correspondence among aspects of various orders of reality or realms of the cosmos such as the human body, the body politic, and the heavenly bodies (p. 1). In the first chapter of nine, he outlines the basic modes of correlative thought in early China. These include man/ cosmos and state/ cosmos congruence; the numerology based upon Five Phases; the YIJING as simulacrum of cosmic pattern; and the Yueling (Monthly Ordinances) from the LIJI.
