Abstract

During investigations of donor-acceptor recombination radiation in II-VI compounds that are photoexcited with radiation of photon energy in excess of the band gap, the authors have found that the ODMR signals decrease in intensity as the excitation power is increased, and that for sufficiently high laser power the signals disappear completely. This behaviour is shown to be consistent with the concept of well-defined pair recombination, which has been found necessary to account for previous ODMR phenomena in II-VI materials, and has important practical consequences for these investigations.
