Abstract

Allowance for the dead time loss is one of the major correction factors required in 4 π β − γ coincidence counting. A simple method is described for obtaining the optimum β channel dead time, which involves determining a dead time curve, relating the observed total system dead time as a function of an additional dead time inserted in the β channel.
