Summary

Introduction

The main source of a strong economy depends on a clean environment and a healthy society. The rapid increase in the world population, raw material and energy consumption for production of goods and services generates high amount of wastes causing environmental problems such as air pollution, water pollution, soil pollution, subsequently depleting natural resources. The management strategies to deal with these wastes have an effect directly on our health and our future [1]. An adequate waste management program which does not cause environmental pollution should be developed in order to protect public health. It has been accepted in the literature that the way to be followed in the waste management is to prevent waste formation, to reduce or recover if not prevented, and to dispose of the waste appropriately
