Abstract
Collagen metabolites in urine are determined by means of the hydroxyproline index for collagen. A simple and reproducible method for hydrolysis is outlined obviating the need to heat-seal reaction tubes under vacuum. Six or more urine specimens can be processed simultaneously without risk of loss of specimen. In particular, specimens containing very small amounts of collagen metabolities may be determined by repeatedly evaporating 1-ml aliquots of urine before hydrolysis.
