Abstract

A method is described for the determination of chlorine, chlorine dioxide and hypochlorite in aqueous solutions, involving measurement of the chemiluminescence produced during alkaline oxidation of luminol in the presence of hydrogen peroxide. Two different analytical procedures are employed, one based on a pulse technique and the other on continuous flow. Micromolar or submicromolar quantities can be detected.
