Abstract

Medical and health insurance is a very important function to secure a family member as well as to provide secure finances for individuals. However, in Malaysia, the demand for medical and health insurance is yet not preferable. Not only that, medical expenses increase critically but there are still a lot of Malaysians who do not have their own medical and health insurance. The purpose of this study is to examine the factors that influenced the demand for medical and health insurance among people in Klang and the relationship between income level, knowledge of medical and health insurance, income protection, risk attitude, and social influence. A quantitative study was conducted, and 240 questionnaires were distributed to Klang residents as a respondent using a random sampling method. The finding indicates that risk attitude, income protection, income level as well as knowledge are four important variables correlative with the demand for medical and health insurance in Klang. This research is beneficial Insurance industry to create awareness among Malaysian about the importance of Medical and Health Insurance, especially during the era of the pandemic Covid-19.
