Abstract

This paper examines the factors influencing the demand for Pakistan's imports during the period from 1959–1960 to 1985–1986. A general approach is used to determine empirically the appropriate formulation of the import demand functions, and leads to the choice of the loglinear form. The estimated price and income elasticities are distinctly different from those of the developed and middle-income countries.
