Abstract

A method of detecting thermal objects on a masking atmospheric background using infrared heat detectors with a wide field of view is proposed. It is based on the difference between the spatial spectra of the radiation of a thermal point object and an extended cold atmospheric background. An algorithm of a two-dimensional spatial filter is developed, which enables the process of detecting aerial targets to be automated and enables their video images to be displayed on the monitor in binary form.
