Abstract

The EXONEST software package has recently been developed for the purposes of the photometric detection and characterization of exoplanets. EXONEST employs a Bayesian inference engine, which allows one to simultaneously perform both parameter estimation and Bayesian model testing. The photometric model used in EXONEST incorporates four known photometric effects (Reflection, Thermal Emission, Doppler Boosting, and Ellipsoidal Variations) in addition to transits and secondary eclipses. This method of characterization has been tested on known exoplanetary systems such as Kepler-13Ab, HAT-P-7b, and Kepler-91b. A brief overview of the software and previous results from EXONEST will be presented as well as potential applications for future space-based telescopes, the use of multi-color photometry and the prospect of using EXONEST as a stand-alone detection technique.
