Abstract

In the paper, a ultra-wideband sparse conformal array is proposed. The antenna array adopts a low-profile Vivaldi antenna element. The profile of the antenna is reduced from 110mm to 64mm by optimizing the radiation slot. The feeding adopts a transform from microstrip to slotline feed structure. The Covariance Matrix Adaptation Evolutionary Strategy (CMA-ES) Algorithm is exploited into the design of sparse conformal array. Using peak sidelobe level in wide angle scanning as the fitness function, we convert the synthesis problem into an optimization problem, which is solved by CMA-ES. Finally, numerical examples illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
