Abstract
The article examines a modern direction in the development of public spaces that includes the cultural code of the region and cultural identity in modern urban environment design. This is an important issue considering academic urban space projects in the educational process and work with urban communities. The article demonstrates a case of design pattern implementation based on Komi culture in relation to small architectural forms for the public space «Playground under the Clock» in Syktyvkar.
