THE AUTHOR: was born, in Boston, Feb. 12, 1926. Attended primary schools in the New England area and served two years in the Navy during World War II as an electronic technician. Attended Williams College receiving a B.A. degree, then Stanford University for an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Employed for four years as a test engineer in heat transfer research at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft. Joined the staff of Clarkson College, Potsdam, New York as an Assistant Professor and was recently promoted to Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering.
