Abstract

A procedure is described for the design of a translator logic circuit, capable of operating a three-phase electrical stepping motor in the electromagnetic braking drive mode. The resulting logic circuit requires eighteen NAND logic elements and provides a 40 per cent reduction in the number of elements required, in comparison with an equivalent circuit whose design has been based on converting the outputs of a reversible ring counter circuit to the required drive sequence.
