Abstract

A deformable and shape-controllable robotic mannequin designed for mimicking the shapes of various human bodies is proposed. Our robotic mannequin consists of four layers: shoulder, chest, waist and hip. For each layer, its surface is composed of a number of panels, and its deforming shape is driven by a shape-controllable flexible belt. To make the shape of robotic mannequin computable, a data-driven method is proposed to control the shapes of flexible belts, and the deforming shapes of the panels are calculated by physical simulation with the shape constraints of the flexible belts. Our robotic mannequin can be potentially applied in clothing industry and online clothes retail.
