Abstract

This paper discusses the spatial lexical concept and cognitive model of localizer “li” (in) in the framework of LCCM theory, as well as the cognitive transformational process from spatial meaning to state meaning. The basic lexical concept of “li” (in) can be summarized as an “enclosed spatial scene”. The basic functional parameters encoded by this lexical concept include “Enclosure”, “Location with surety” and “Occlusion”. The “Enclosure” parameter can further derive the “Contact” and “Support” parameters, which together constitute the spatial lexical concept and cognitive model of “li” (in). The state meaning of “li” (in) is derived from the situational influential parameter through the bridging context. The “influence” and “state” parameters are the lexical concepts derived from the spatial cognitive model of “li” (in). LCCM theory can provide a new perspective for the construction of the semantic network of polysemous words.
