Abstract

The KLV Auger Profiles of simple metals may be used to provide valuable information about the local screening around a core ionized site since the electronic environment around such sites has been shown to have considerable influence on determining the Auger lineshape. In particular the KLV Auger profiles of the divalent simple metal Mg have been shown to change dramatically on alloying with the trivalent simple metal Al. In this work we show the effects on the Mg KLV of alloying with the monovalent simple metal Li. We interpret the environmental dependence of the Mg KLV profile in terms of the difference in valence band between the Mg impurity and the host.
