Abstract

The significant influence of non-singular terms of stress expansion (T-stress) on the stress-strain state at the crack tip is shown. Proposed to take into account the constant values of T-stress and other higher order members of stress expansion by representing as a single function of the angular distribution of T-stress. For a disk sample with a central crack, the crack growth direction was calculated for different parameters of mixed loading. The experimental results for predicting of crack growth direction, theoretical results on the well-known maximum tangential stress criterion, results using stress averaging in the pre-fracture zone, and the results of the proposed criterion are presented. It is shown that the results of theoretical calculations according to the proposed criterion are closest to the experimental results compared with the well-known tangential stress criterion.
