Abstract

Outgassing temperature has been varied between 298 and 605 K in a volumetric nitrogen sorption study on an electrodeposited γ-manganese dioxide. Wedge or slit shaped transitional pores of area 39 m 2/g in a nonrigid platelet structure are exposed at 298 K. By condensation of hydroxyl ions in the manganese dioxide structure micropores are generated at higher temperatures; micropore volume reaching a maximum at 511 K. Above this temperature transitional pore area increases at the expense of micropore volume.
