The dependence of shell model state densities on angular momentum

Abstract

The centroid and second through fourth central moments of shell model state densities are shown to have a very simple dependence on the projection of the angular momentum along the z-axis. This simple dependence follows from the fact that the single-particle angular momenta add statistically for a large number of nucleons.
