Abstract

The calculation of the density of states and the spectral functions of the Anderson model of cellular disorder has been performed using the coherent potential approximation. The computed density of states is broader than it would be without the random field but does not cover the total width of the exact density of states. One obtains the large density of states region but not the tailing since large potential fluctuations are neglected. The results of this paper can be used to discuss the localization of electrons and the occurrence of a mobility gap.
