Abstract

AbstractThe applicability of the new mixing rules recently formulated by the authors for the BWR equation of state was assessed by predicting the densities of several binary mixtures of hydrogen sulphide with methane and ethane and the phase behavior of the carbon dioxide‐propane, hydrogen sulphide‐methane, hydrogen sulphide‐propane and hydrogen sulphide‐carbon dioxide binary systems. The predictions confirmed the effectiveness of the new rules for predicting the densities of hydrocarbon‐non‐hydrocarbon binaries, and they showed that acceptable accuracy could be obtained in predicting the phase behavior of difficult binary systems even when no phase behavior data are used for evaluating the parameters in the equation of state.
