Abstract
In common with the other mountainous masses of East Africa, the Cherangani Hills in NW. Kenya have endemic pachycaulous species of Senecio. Cotton & Blakelock (1937) reported their discovery and used specimens and notes made by I. R. Dale in the description of two new species: S. dalei Cotton & Blakelock, a dwarf species, and S. cheranganiensis Cotton & Blakelock, a Giant Groundsel. Dale & Greenway (i961: 16o) however, have cast doubt on the specific status of S. dalei, so, in the light of their comments, the following observations and notes were made at the suggestion of Mr. C. Jeffrey of Kew, during the Oxford University Expedition to the Cherangani Hills in the summer of 1969.
