Abstract
1. 1. Hyperchromic megalocytic anaemia was not found in 118 chronic pellagra patients. 2. 2. The achylic gastric juice from five chronic pellagra cases was shown by Singer's method to contain the haemopoietic principle. 3. 3. The gastric secretion of two ankylostome anaemia patients was shown to contain the haemopoietic principle by the same method. 4. 4. It is thus concluded that the extrinsic haemopoietic principle is different from the pellagra-preventing factor.
