Abstract
The basic lists of entries in different space dictionaries have a surprisingly small overlap due to the delimitation problem of astronautics as a discipline. Several definitions of astronautics are listed and a schema of the relation of astronautics to associated disciplines is suggested. A selected part of the IAA basic list has been analyzed with respect to its content and relation to other disciplines. Finally, we recommend to put a “core” of any basic list of astronautics together, composed of unambiguous space science and technology terms.
