Abstract

The study aimed to find out the degree of availability of leadership skills among public secondary school principals in improving the level of job jobsatisfaction among employecs. The descriptive correlational methodology was used. A questionnaire was used as atool of the study after ensuring its validity and reliability. The study sample consisted of (414) employees from both seses, in the public secondary schools / the University District for the academic year (2020/2021). They were drawn randomly by using stratified random sample method. The results showed that principals had good leadershipskills, and were in descending order as follows: technical, intellectual, human and administrative skills. As for job satisfaction, satisfaction with wages among secondary school employees was at a moderate degree, and satisfaction with the work environment, leadership and supervision style were at a good degree. There was a strong positive correlation between the leadership skills possessed by the principal and the degree of job satisfaction of employees. The most prominent recommendations were to design and implement training programs for leadership skills and enhance the practical aspects thereof- It also reconsidered the salary scale for teachers and the necessity of developing follow-up of institutional performance through the application of balanced performance (BSC).
