Abstract
Through the generalized Darboux transformation, we derive the degenerate breather solutions for the Boussinesq equation. Dynamics of the degenerate breathers are discussed. We show that the position and pattern of the central area for the higher order degenerate breather solutions could change due to different choices for the parameters.
