Abstract

Properties of column reduced polynomial matrices are well studied in the literature, and there exist many applications of these matrices in control theory problems. A characterization of such matrices is given in (Ruiz-Leon and Kraffer, 1998) in terms of their infinite structure. This interpretation inspired the definition of a column reduced proper rational matrix, presented in (Ruiz-Leon, et aI, 1999), where it is also presented the motivation for introducing such definition, and the application of this concept to the nonregular decoupling of linear multivariable systems. Following a similar approach, we present in this paper a definition of a column reduced A-generalized polynomial matrix, and show how this definition reduces to column reduced polynomial and proper rational matrices, which then become particular cases of the definition presented here.
