Abstract

A study is conducted to analyse the selection of the non-legal literature, which contains a wealth of findings on intimate partner violence by considering the cases from Victoria and New South Wales, in which mostly proprietary men raised the provocation defence in intimate partner killings. These cases demonstrate the inconsistent results obtained by raising the defence and it also examines the studies that demonstrate that the average person is prone to tolerate violence inspired by jealousy.
