Abstract

This paper reports the results from seismic probing of Kudryavyi Volcano in the Medvezh’ya caldera on Iturup Island, which is part of the Kuril Islands. Velocity structures for the northwestern slope of the volcano and the Medvezh’ya caldera are given. We identify the basic sedimentary complexes and anomalous zones, which we interpret as intermediate chambers. Possible versions of the geological evolution of this feature are presented.
