Abstract

Aims: In view of the main deficiency of biological valve prostheses – their frequent degeneration, we analysed the impact of a permanent post-operative antithrombotic therapy (PPATT) after the aortic valve replacement with biological prostheses (BAVP) on their degeneration rate among 142 patients who had been operated on with aortic valve replacement with biological prostheses (141 Carpentier-Edwards porcine prostheses and 1 allograft aortic valve) between July 1976 and December 1980 in our clinic.
