Abstract

This study examines the decline of the Pashtuns as a nationalist group in Afghanistan. It also focuses on the fundamentalist narrative of Pashtun converted into Taliban. The Taliban has used the Pashtun to support their hardcore Islamist ideology. The authors argue that Pashtun declined due to the Taliban's strong beliefs in their extreme doctrine in Afghanistan. The article also focuses on identity and polarisation in Afghanistan and the role of minority groups in the country. The analysis of the article revolves around discourse from the historical perspectives related to the decline of Pashtuns. This article focuses on Pashtun, Taliban, and other minority groups using historical secondary data.
