Abstract

The gamma spectrum of Yb 166 has been studied with a scintillation spectrometer. The probability P K of K electron capture, the reduced half-life for the decay to the excited state and the conversion coefficient α K of the 82 keV γ-transition have been measured. The total decay energy has been found to be Q = 256± 20 120 keV. The value of the reduced half-life for the electron capture transition to the excited state has been established to be log ft = 4.60 ± 0.20 0.55. The proposed decay scheme is discussed.
