Abstract

The decay of 146Eu, in equilibrium with 146Gd, to excited states in 146Sm has been studied with a Ge(Li) detector and a scintillation detector in singles and in coincidence. Gamma-ray energies and relative intensities were obtained from the analysis of Ge(Li) singles spectra. The spectra of gamma rays in coincidence with the 633–634 keV composite transition and the 747.1 keV transition were obtained. Internal conversion coefficients were obtained by comparing the gamma-ray intensities with available internal conversion electron intensities. In addition to the well-known states at 747.1 keV (2 +), 1380.5 keV (3 −) and 1381.3 keV (4 +), levels for which tentative spin and parity assignments may be made are those at (energies in keV) 1648.3 (2 +), 1811.6 (2 through 6 +, 1 through 5 −, 2046 (2, 3, 4 −), 2083.1 (2, 3, 4 +), 2103.5 (1, 2 +), 2155.9 (2 +), 2192.7 (2, 3 +), 2269.9 (3, 4 +), 2280.9 (2, 3 +), 2438.9 (2, 3, 4 +), 2497.6 (2 +), 2513.5 (2, 3 −), 2532.0 (3, 4, 5 +) and 2678.3 (4, 5 +). A number of additional levels up to 3546 keV are included in a proposed level scheme.
